This walk through a magnificent part of the city shows the 'dark side' of Amsterdam, sometimes more of less hidden, sometimes overwhelming realistic. The dark side, that includes for instance the drugs scene. Hard drug addicts get a lot of aid, their number is decreasing slowly and they do not give a lot of inconvenience like before. Result of the city's very succesful policy. Another aspect of the 'dark side' is the Red Light District, today a touristic highlight. In 2000 prostitution was legalized, the brothel ban was abolished, but the mayor is not satisfied with the results so far.

Amsterdam is also the Gay Capital of Europe, because of its tolerant approach to different (sub)cultures. We show you one of the gay nightlife centres.
We also pass the Zeedijk, a former nogo area. Brillant action of inspired citizens solved this problem and made the Zeedijk one of the nicest streets of the city.
So this tour has a lot to offer for everybody who wants to know the secrets of Amsterdam, besides the nice pictures. In fact we combine a walk through top neighbourhoods with interesting information about politics, aid, dangers, criminality... And: how tolerance and realism keep the people of Amsterdam together.
